Coaching Career

Liz’s coaching journey began at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, where she worked with NCAA Division III athletes to develop their skills and strategies. Her commitment to player development quickly became apparent, setting the foundation for a coaching career that has spanned multiple levels and regions.After her time in Milwaukee, Liz returned to her home state of Colorado to continue her impact on the sport. She coached at the club level, offering private hitting and pitching lessons to athletes striving to reach their full potential. Her ability to connect with players and inspire growth has made her a sought-after mentor in the softball community.Before taking the helm at Grandview High School, Liz coached at Cherry Creek High School and Castle View High School. At Grandview, Liz has led the Wolves to remarkable success, including consecutive Elite 8 finishes in her last two seasons. As she completes her fifth season as head coach, Liz remains committed to pushing her players to reach new heights while instilling a love for the game.

Playing Career

Liz’s legacy in softball began long before her coaching career. As a Division I athlete at Boston University, she earned a reputation as one of the program’s most outstanding players. Twice named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year, Liz set records that still stand in BU history. She broke the school’s single-season and career home run records, and to this day, she ranks as the second all-time home run leader in BU’s history.
Her senior year was a testament to her dedication on and off the field, as she was honored with NFCA Academic All-America recognition for her achievements as a student-athlete.
Liz’s softball journey started at Eaglecrest High School in Colorado, where she was a dominant force. A four-time first-team All-Centennial League selection, she set records for fielding percentage (1.000 in a single season) and career putouts (626). Her time at Eaglecrest not only established her as a formidable player but also laid the groundwork for her lifelong dedication to the sport.

Beyond the Field

Liz’s involvement in athletics extends far beyond playing and coaching. While earning her MBA from the University of Denver in 2011, she gained invaluable experience working in sports media relations. She supported the hockey, basketball, and gymnastics teams at DU, honing her skills in communication and team management.
Her professional journey also included work with major organizations like the Denver Broncos, the Denver Outlaws, and the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association, further broadening her expertise in sports administration.
Currently, Liz serves on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's Steering Committee, where she collaborates with fellow coaches to shape the future of softball. Her leadership and vision are instrumental in advancing the sport at all levels.

Rain Delay: Helping Athletes Stay in the Game

As a co-founder of Rain Delay, Liz has taken her commitment to athlete development to a new level. Alongside Rachel Sanford, Liz created the program to provide tools and strategies that help athletes extend their careers and thrive in their respective sports. Rain Delay reflects Liz’s deep understanding of the challenges athletes face and her dedication to overcoming them.

Coaching Philosophy

For Liz, coaching is more than a profession—it’s a calling. “It is an absolute honor to be able to coach softball and give back to this sport,” she says. “Softball has given me so many opportunities in my life, and I am grateful to every person I have encountered along the way because they have helped me to learn all of the lessons that softball teaches you.” Her approach focuses on teaching players not only the skills they need to succeed but also the life lessons that sports can offer. From resilience to teamwork, Liz ensures her players leave the field with tools that will serve them well in every aspect of life.

Personal Life

Liz graduated from Boston University in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and went on to earn her MBA from the University of Denver in 2011. Today, she resides in Centennial, Colorado, with her husband and their daughter.
When she’s not coaching or working on Rain Delay, Liz enjoys spending time with her family and staying connected to the community she loves. Her dedication to her family, her players, and the sport of softball exemplifies the balance and passion that define her career.
